Day of Random Big Events

Yes yes. Today has been termed the day of random big events. First up, there's Mr Kao's birthday, followed by "A" level registration, then H3 Maths Test, and also the appearance of our principal Mrs Loke at our Contact Time to state the school stand on the Stomp issue..

Mr Kao. Who is he? Well, he's my class's Civics Tutor last year, Co-Civics Tutor this year, Computing tutor for both years and PW tutor for last year. Yes. He takes up so many roles and he's an Ironman. No, not the Marvel Comic Ironman. He completed a Triathlon last year.. he took 2 days leave from teaching + weekends to do it.. finished it in 12hrs or so. Nice sia. Well anyway, today is his birthday. Wowie. Guess who and how we found out? I found out through Facebook a few days back haha.. So we had this plan.. Buy cake, light it, dont go lesson, camp outside classroom, wait for him to come out looking for us, then boo! happy bday!.. Sounds nice right? Well we thought so too, but end up he heard some of our classmates talk so loud outside he knew smth was going on.. so he purposely sit inside and read a book.. Wt.. then we had to go.. spoil all the fun =(
Anyway, we managed to spend the whole lesson eating the cake and talking, instead of having a proper Computing lecture. Woo! Secondary objective completed =P

We wanted one with cow toys because Kao sounds like cow. But the pastry auntie say don't have.. so we bought some grass looking cake with cute toys on it.. haha. Here's the cake!

Its me holding the cake! My classmate took the pic.. cute right.. the toys.. haha.. Hello Kitty, Doraemon.. lol.. and yea.. its all green specks of stuff on it.. it looks whitish in this pic though.. the greenish things look like grass XD

"A" level Registration! Woo.. so bloody expensive.. $50+ for GP, $90 for Econs and Maths, $98 for Physics and Computing.. C'mon la.. how expensive is it to pay print a script & get an old man in Cambridge to mark your script.. Probably $1k for 100 scripts or smth? And why the heck they take so long to mark "A" level anyway.. dont tell me they spend all these extra cash to hire Blanga workers to form a human chain and carry the papers to and fro Britain and Singapore.. Must be it.. No wonder "O" levels and "A" levels take so long to mark and cost so much..

Here's some pictures i took in class while signing the form..

Alright.. That was sort of unimportant to me... No stress signing my big fat name there.. only stress is on my wallet.. but thats not the point.. H3 test.. argh! Left our like 6+ marks worth of question out of the 50 marks qn.. no more 43/50 for me =(
And just at that moment, I just had to check Vannessa's script.. and she finished all qns -.-

Here's a pic of the script.. I stole one from the LT after the test. Hah!

Hokay, with that aside, lemme talk about the last and most probably most interesting random big event today - The appearance of our principal Mrs Loke at our Contact Time to state the school stand on the Stomp issue.

Well, whats the whole Stomp thing about? Last wednesday, 2 students (a guy and a girl) went up on stage to perform a skit to advertise smth. This is quite a usual sight in TJC actually.. Apparently, the girl tapped the guy's shoulder during the skit and they both ended up writing letters to the Discipline Master (DM).. This sparked off a student post on Stomp.. Check it out at "http://mediaclub.stomp.com.sg/hotstuff/view/page/0".. And yes, it did cause the whole school to talk about it for the past few days.. So today, in attempt to clear things up, our very own big head, the Principal, came into our Contact Time period to give us a talk on the school's stand and stuff.. Here's both sides/point of views and some facts of the issue:

Facts
- girl tapped guy's shoulder during morning skit as a form of greeting gesture
- both guy and girl made to write letter to DM
- student posted the issue on Stomp
- girl's parents came to school to complain about the letter
- the stomper (student who posted the issue on Stomp) has been called into the Vice-Principal's (VP) office and had a "nice chat" and subsequently agreed he was in the wrong and wrote a letter of apology
- VP read through the apology letter and told him what should be changed to it
- the Stomper has made an apology to the school

Student's Argument
- DM deemed the act of tapping on shoulder as "indecent"
- both guy and girl made to write "apology letter"
-
School's Argument
- guy and girl did not act out the skit as they did the evening before, during the preview to the DM
- both guy and girl made to write "reflection letter" for their "inconsistency in their skit"
- all parties involved have been talked to and they have acknowledged it was an misunderstanding on their part

Conclusion
Its all up to you guys to decide who's side of argument you believe in. But based on a student survey I gathered today through talking, apparently more than 90% of the student population is skeptical about the school's argument and believe in the students' one. Call it peer support or whatever, I too believe the student's argument. Or maybe it was the way our Principal was talking.. she seemed to keep stressing on the point that the letter was "reflection letter" and it was due to "inconsistency in their skit".. and the stressing was very very very obvious.. Based on previous experiences of lying and failed attempts of persuasion, over stressing on a certain point isn't really a gd way of making people believe you but will only make it obvious what you are trying to lie about.. and somehow the way she talks.. she looked a bit desperate to get students' support.. Oh well.. thats just my personal point of view.

Anyway, some TJCian set up a blog just for this issue. Lol!

Have fun reading it, if you're interested =)
